Don't ever tell the car dealer how much you want your new car payment to be. That is between you and your bank or credit union. Car dealers know that most people are payment buyers only looking at how much they are going to pay per month. If you commit to what you are willing to pay per month before you have negotiated the best new car price. The dealership will just simply extend the financing term from 60 months to 66, 72 and even 84 months or ask for a larger down payment. Be prepared.
